dipstick length

When I acquired my truck, the dipstick was broken off the handle. What is the dipstick length from the bottom to the handle(the part that goes over the tube)? Im changing my earl tomorrow and was going to buy a universal one from the local parts shack as the local salvage yards dont have any 7.3s. the truck is a 90 f250 4x4 7.3 na. thanks.

Mine is 27.75" from the top of the sholder to the full line.
And 28.75" to the add mark.

If you are using a small filter, 10 quarts of oil should put you right at full with a warm engine.
Install the oil, run the engine and give it 10 minutes to drain back to the pan.
With the truck sitting level, where it is on the stick is the full mark.
One inch lower is the add mark.

ok, cool...hopefully the rain lets up tomorrow. So then I can change the oil. I went to the salvage yard bc they said they had a 92 7.3, but when I got there and searchd the yard, no luck. went to an employee and said it was crushed last week. I took a stick out of a 302 efi that was 31". I will trim it down and make new marks as long as it seals right on the tube.
