Im curious, This is my first diesel. Ive been looking around, and reading other posts regarding boost issues, Seems to me the majority of the questions are regard no boost at all, or over boosting situations causing blow off with the tubes, or heads lifting and so on.
Here's my question, I know that with the 6 oh's the years makes a difference. I have a 2005 F-350 6.0 psd. How much boost should I be seeing in this truck? It may be me, but when i first got it a year ago, i thought I was producing well over 20 lbs. Now it seems I cant get it above the middle of the stock gauge ever. this normal?
Before I unplugged my EGR I was seeing 27 or 28 when towing. Now I see 24-25. Still plenty of power for me and maybe safer regarding cylinder pressure which can cause head gasket problems.
Hmm, I will take a look at my gauge when I leave work this evening, Its possible im not reading the gauge correctly. Regardless it seems low to me, I have my EGR disconcerted, and didnt even notice a difference in boost. As far as towing, had a camper and a trailer loaded up the hills in Colorado, nothing above where it max's out in town empty. Im thinking something isnt right.
I have the same year F350 as you, extreme. Just under normal hard throttle, not WOT but about 3/4, I run around 20-22 psi. These readings are all on my quadzilla commander. Unless you keep your foot in it for a while your factory guage won't go over 20. The factory guage is there for your enjoyment, not for actual readings. The commander gets its pickup off of the same location as the factory guage, but it reads instantly. If I hit WOT my truck will maintain 25-28 psi until 3 rd gear. The Ford tech that services my truck told me the factory sets the computer to make 26 psi which is right with where I see my truck. I pulled a 26' fifth wheel camper and a 20' enclosed trailer behind it for 135 miles 2 weeks ago and at about 3/4 throttle to accelerate I was seeing 22-25 psi. I would look into an aftermarket guage of some sort to verify if your factory guage is correct.

Well that would make sense, "Glorified Dummy Light" I will look into getting a aftermarket boost gauge when I get the EGT gauge, I would say Dashhawk, but wont support the EGT. So the search continues.
Well this is making me feel better about the whole situation. I was concerned that I might have a issue with the turbo veins possible being stuck semi closed and not allowing the truck to get the air it wants.
You should be able to hit high 20's MGP on loaded truck or incline, your VGT may be starting to stick. do you have driveability or power concerns?? If not leave it alone, if so have it looked at your dealer.
I have an 05 just like yours and I am reading 27 to 28 PSI at WOT. I am reading through a stewart warner gauge from the intake elbow. The factory gauge reads pretty much the same. From my research it looks like anything above 30 PSI you start to run the risk of head bolts stretching.

My 07 shows 24 on the factory gauge but 28 on my ISSPRO when pedal is to the metal uphill in the moutains at 12K feet. I trust the ISSPRO. While reading the forums before I installed ISSPRO, I too was worried about boost. After the ISSPRO I felt better. After installing Matt's (Spartan) UE tune, it pegs 30 at times!
