The truck's computer, if it has one, which I'm assuming it does, uses tiny bits of power, even with the key off. So they light would probably turn on, even with the key off. But since its an IDI, I'm not sure.
Your best bet would probably to go some place like sears, and look for a digital multimeter that can read DC amps and miliamps
how are you starting it in the mornings battery charger jump start ect. if you unhook cables at night will it start like it is supposed to. how cold is it up there in the mornings.
It has enough juice to carry it over the night and starts up fine the next day...ut by the second day, you can notice there theres some loss of power. I didn't end up getting to test out the fuse box, because when I came outta the store, it was dark and pissing rain...so I'll save that for tomorrow.
I took a multimeter to the battery terminals when the "wait to start" light was on, and I'd get an average of 8-10 volts,
if your batts went to 8 volt when the glow plugs came on they either need charging or they are no good
you should have two 800 cca batteries cca= cold cranking amps
you should be able two draw 400 amps from one battery for 15 seconds with out the voltage going below 10.5v
the glow plugs draw around 200 amps
A new battery will hold 11 volts during this test
