Adding Tow Hooks

Hello, This is my first post here. I do have a question. I have a 2007 F150 XLT 2WD, I would like to add the tow hooks that are on the 2007 4WD. It looks like all I will need are 2 hooks, 4 bolts, 2 nut plates and the plastic balance thing under the bumper. Is the frames different between the 2WD and 4WD? Do you think this will be just a unbolt and add job or is there more to this than meets the eye? Thanks for any info you can give me.

Do a search. I asked this about a year ago for my 2005, and although I don't recall the actual answers, I do remember it being fairly complicated.

Don't know for sure but I think I read it some time back that the bolt and nut were incredibly expensive.

There are some F150 tow hooks on eBay right now for about $20. They don't include the bolts though.

Did you have to remove your bumper? And does the nut plates just slip inside of the frame? Thanks

for the install you'll need

(2) Tow Hooks
(4) Grade 8 bolts
(2) Nut Plates or (4) Nuts/washers

the 4x2 and 4x4 frame are identical. the bumpers are usually the same also unless you've got a FX2. check your lower bumper and if you see 2 upside down "U" shapes, then your set. just trim the black valance thingy to make room for them.

the install is fairly simple. I just removed mine for a Bull Bar install. The frame has a access port that you can use to slide the nut plates into and for use when tightening. There is no need to remove the bumper.

When I installed my bull bar I had to take my tow hooks off. My brother put them on his no problem. Just had to cut the plastic on the lower part of the bumber for the hooks to come through, but its that easy.
