Reverse Neutral Switch
Recently had some work done for a problem. Problem was that when the truck was cold would fire up fine no problem. After it got hot it would just make a clicking sound. So to fix the problem I replaced the starter (which did not fix the problem) and had the headers ceramic coated (which also did not fix the problem)
I just replaced the reverse neutral switch and now the problem seems to have gone away.
Anyone have any idea how could that be possible? That part does not get hot while I'm driving. Is it possible that the switch was so old that it was not putting out enough signal once the truck got hot and therefore the wire was not carrying enough signal to go through the heat?
Any ideas would be appreciated as I am wondering if I may have more electrical gremlins to deal with in the future.
Thanks,
Mike
The "Wearing" of some parts can lead to some interesting problems.
"Slop til you drop" kind of stuff
Btw, No signal is involved .. it is simply a hit or miss "switch" .
Power thru one wire... switch closes....that power then gets routed to the S terminal
allowing for the relay to work.
Quite simple actually.
Clicking during starter crank is usually from bad/low battery, bad connections, or bad relay or starter.
