Yea, the TB and the shorties have been on there....but soon I'll be slappin on some longtubes like I told ya before and......just got done puttin the roller rockers on her and it took me 45 friggin minutes to put ONE side on the friggin headers......As you can tell I'm a lil friggin frustrated ha ha ha......I got some more pictures to take and post in my gallery as well as results....it was warmer today then I thought so it wasn't nice to work in.....Later On
I second that Mike....on these trucks the best way to get power is already been said....open the exhaust, the intake and play with the timing a little....Your's is a 91 right? So, you'll have speedensity which won't be as forgiving of mods as a MAF setup.....you can cam it and such but you've got to make sure it will cooperate with it...if not.....and you want a more mild cam....you could always convert it over to MAF via a donor truck....I'm going to be putting a set of 1.7's in my truck today...let you know how they did...but those are gonna be comboed with ported GT-40 heads.......been a month since my truck new what movement was....can't wait...most chips for these years trucks just apply more pressure to the fual anyways as well as advance the timing a little bit.......considering the chips are upwards of 200+....you can do it yourself for MUCH cheaper...don't you think?Luck

I do dissagree with the negative on the chips. It's not about the chip it's about the tuner. I run 3 Gen 1 lightnings and all 3 have a SCT chip and were Dyno tuned. Cost is high but just part of the performance package and making that 351W last. My tune yielded 286 RWHP and 390 pound of torque. Stock was 240RWHP. The tune is adjustable in cab with a switch from race tune to safer daily driver tune. Tell them what you are looking to do and what mods you have. It does have Edelbrock Alum heads, 1.7 rollers headers and catless exhaust.
As others have mentioned larger ported heads, headers and a free flow exhaust is a big step forward. The truck at 4300 Lbs runs 14.2 1/4 mile and still gets me 17 mpg hiway.
For those looking for iron GT 40 heads stop by the National lightning owners club. They came stock on the Gen 1 lightnings and are being replaced by a lot of the lightning guys for aluminum heads.

I was refering to mail order chips, in my 1st reply. Now a dyno tuned chip is better but also cost about double as a mail order... On a stock or mildly modified motor,(pullies, headers, exhaust etc...) chips aren't worth the $$$$ to HP/TRQ gains , IMO.. Unless you are have drivabilty problems, then just to solve those would be worht it to some. Now if you have a modifed motor might be worht it. But for mild to stock motors, it's not worth the $$$ yet...

yeah,, now i read more about chips and stuff and what they do.. the best way to get a chip is like you did.. after you modded your moter.. and you add the chip to squeeze those extra hidden ponies out of here in other words let the computer know what are you running.. and make everything work..
I agree with you Gen 1 and I like your name BTW...I was also referring to the mail order brides errr chips heh heh......to get what you really want from her you'll need to take er down and have a custom burn put in......Later

Your right about cost. Dang they sure are proud of those things. I had a super chip burned for my N/A 94 Cost about $500.00 with chip and tune. I have a S/C 94 we are freshening the engine on and am looking into the sniper chip. Cost is about the same but I was impressed with what they did for a couple of trucks at lightningfest this year. My son and I run them hard at the strip so a good tune is a must or all kinds of bad things happen.
Not going to spend the money for a chip on the 94 460 in the tow pig.
Mike
I got a buddy of mine with two Gen 1's....a 93 and a 94.....the Black one is his race truck...the other is his grocery getter......his tow pig is a CC dually with a 460 and Lightning bucket seats.....Where bouts you at Mike?

I'm in phoenix. I like the idea of lightning seats in the tow pig. There is a set forsale on NLOC for $600.00.
My red 94 will be our race truck. My oldest son got me into this madness and does most of the wrenching. Engine is at the machine shop now. 2 weeks and $2K and hoping for high 11's.

I actually found these online and they are mint...I was gonna get em for my Flareside but the interior don't match...250 bucks.....Can't beat it.Later On
