F250 V10 2000,
I was sat in the truck (engine off) with the key in the 'back one from off' position so I could listen to the radio. After a few minutes I got some sort of warning beeps from somewhere under/behind the dash. 4 beeps one second apart, a few seconds gap then another four beeps and so on.
WTF !!
Is my truck trying to tell me something?
No I dont have an alarm or anything that I know would make that noise. Is there such a thing as a low battery warning beeper?
The sound was not very loud. At first I thought there was a delivery truck reversing somewhere a few hundred feet away. It was that kind of beep, but quiet. Then I checked my cell phone cause it sounded like I had a text message waiting, but no, It was definatelly coming from under the dash. and no it was not on the radio station, I switched that off first.
may have been the stereo its self, mine will beep when it is changing modes from CD disc player to radio and back again, maybe there was a disc inside and it was trying to allert you to either play or eject it.
The SRS uses a readiness light in the instrument cluster or a tone to
indicate the condition of the system. Refer to the Air bag readiness
section in the Instrumentation chapter. Routine maintenance of the air
bag is not required.
A difficulty with the system is indicated by one or more of the following:
• The readiness light will either flash or stay lit.
• The readiness light will not illuminate immediately after ignition is turned on.
• A series of five beeps will be heard. The tone pattern will repeat periodically until the problem and light are repaired.
If any of these things happen, even intermittently, have the SRS serviced at your dealership or by a qualified technician immediately. Unless serviced, the system may not function properly in the event of a collision.
Ok , good advice, thank you all. I will go now and check all the bulbs.
Is there a better test than just turning on the ignition, maybe a way to self-test all the dash bulbs and make them all stay on for a while?
Get in your truck, insert the key but don't turn it yet. Push and hold the black odometer button on the dash. As you hold the button in, turn the key on but don't start the truck. The odometer reading will change to read the word "test". Once you see that, let the button go and start the truck. You'll see all your gauges do a sweep.
Now push the button again it gives you a funny looking read, push the button again and all of the instrument panel lights come on....so you can tell if any of them are burnt out.
I just had this happen today in my '06 250 psd. I pulled into the gas station, set the brake and put it in park and it beeped 4 times. I was just going in for a second and didn't shut it off, drove it all over town for about an hour and didn't hear it again.
