Has anybody ever switched from a non-tach cluster to a tach cluster? So far it bolted in, and the tach works but nothing else does. But when I turn on the lights only one half goes on and tach stops working... Any electrical geniuses out there?
I know with the non-slab nosed trucks the clusters are interchangeable only within certain years of production. The older ones might be the same way. Did the cluster come from a truck of the same year?
It won't work.
Next time save some time and hassel by doing a search for previous threads.
The insterment cluster swap has been discussed whole buch of times in the past.

Need to get the year of your truck or possibly one above (i am not sure on 89 if it is one above or below) You could rewire it to work, but that is soldering etc. It is easier just to find one from the year you need and plug and play.
Wish u luck, am doing mine soon.
(I don't like driving a manual without a tach unless its a car I can hear real well like my 85 grand am (it thought it was a race car, was so from the factory, newer cavalier is really hard to hear i sometimes rev it too high), I also often find engine problems by looking and monitoring the tach when driving, plus to me a truck has to have a tach, because i am from AZ and in the mtns it is nice to have one. (Going to school in MN=I hate rust)

For soem reason it didn't post, but it works. I think the speedometer cable and te tach might be exponitially off but a general idea is good... it says 2,300 RPMs at 55 MPH. 351W C6 and 3.55ls
Anybody know where i can get head kit of gt40s?
