after hving no luck finding rear door hinges,I am going to make a hatch back out of the two doors.I have seen this done on a few panels. Can anyone tell me what to use for hinges.I tried dodge caravan hinges they did not work out.It looks like I would need trunk hinges to get the door tops out away from the door frame.
Hey man, I'm so sorry I haven't been to the other shop in a while. I do think I do have some original hinges. But I'm glad youre considering a "hatchback" type setup! Sorry I have no cookies for you, Havi ate them all!! Seriously, I'll try to get up there tomorrow and see if I have some original ones? If you don't have any luck with the other setup? I'm thinkin about Aerostar hinges? I haven't checked them out yet, but that's what I'm goin to look at first.
I used the hinges from a 74 pinto station wagon, when I was inquiring about the setup that was the reply I got, they were right they work. There was an article in a Trucks magazine I think it was Feb 2000 edition that was very informative, a fellow by name of Don Jacks did the install and if I remember he was in South Carolina. Hope this helps you out.
It's too bad you can't get new doors for the panels. They were easily damaged, plus the rustation. I was really lucky to have a solid set on my '55; didn't realize for a long time how rare they are.
Just curious if anyone knows if the other brands of panels make new old doors?
