Question FE Block casting's

Quick question. I have a FE block that I am about to sell and I want to know what the casting on the block mean. I want to be able to describe it as accuratly as possible. So I was wondering where the numbers are that I need to look for such as date code ext...

Thanks
Brian

Casting numbers can be meaning less for block ID. Most were generic and used on different bore blocks. Some tho are paticular to a certain block. It's a mixed bag. Date code will tell you the year/month/date of the casting. Date code is below where the oil filter adapter bolts to the block. It's on the small angle area. You'll see a number/letter/number. This is the date code. Post what you find. The casting number will help timeframe the block too. It's on the right side of the block. Some blocks don't have a casting number so be aware oif that. Of course measure the cyl bores to tell exactly what you have. Once you know what to look for it's very easy.

Ok
Date code is: 6 A 11

Casting number is C6ME

I know that this was a 390. (Possibly a 390PI) and a fairly built one too. it had a nice set of stock heads, adjustable rockers, forged pistons, heavy duty rods, and a holley 750 carb.

Off the top of anyone's head, can you ballpark what I might expect to get from this block? It is standard bore, but will need to be bored out. Other than that it looks good.

Thanks again

66/Jan/11 is your date code. Good 390 blocks are around $200.
