My overhead console has no anything. Fuse is good and wiring looks good. Do you think it just took a dump? Just didn't come on one day...Thanks, Sixpack
I'm having this exact problem with my 2000 Expedition. I'm going to try to fix it myself as per all of the wonderful instructions I was able to find here. Thank you to all of you!
Welcome to FTE. Fixing my display is one off the first things I learned on here. It's pretty easy, I had a regular sized soldering iron, so that made it challanging.
Rats, unfortunately, it doesn't look I'm going to be as lucky as the others with this problem. I was able to remove the circuit board as per the instructions, but all of the solder joints look fine. There is a "discoloration" in the upper left corner of the display module itself... looks like it could possibly have been caused by something getting too hot... I suspect that something burned out on the display board itself. How do I get a new one?

Try pressing on the resistors while its plugged in too see if it turns on. I would check the Junk yard or other sources because they are $400 at the dealer.
Weird. I plugged it back in and it worked - for a while. Then it seemed to work if I jiggled things the right way. I guess I'll try retouching all the solder points and see what happens. Can't make it any worse I guess!
Heh.. still giving me headaches. Think I found the culprit though. Near the edge of the board where the button is, there are two little black rectangles with a "510" on them. When I push on the one the display comes on, and man is that little black thingy hot!

Those are the resistors. Are you using this link to figure out how to do it?
Thank you, now I can see the pictures! Mine looks a little different though and like I said, mine have a "510" on them. I tried fixing the one in question, and now it works, but, it blinks off about every 10 seconds. Do you think I just need to solder it better, or should I replace the resistor?

It doesn't sound like it is quite right if it's intermittent, try soldering it better if that doesn't work then I would go the Radio Shack route.
