Ok, here's the deal. The other day I went out and my trusty 86 2.9 decided it didnt want to start. I have a little rig set up for making her go because I had some electrical issues a few months back. I have a 12 volt power supply to turn on the fuel pump relay manually, I guess I had a short somewhere. The little rig has worked up til the other day. Here's my question..... If I were to power the fuel pump through a switch manually, will the regulator and such still work without the relays working properly in place? And if someone could tell me what color the wire is that powers the fuel pump it would be appreciated. The truck isnt going to last much longer, she has nearly 400000km on the body and about 300000km on the little motor. She still runs rather well, other than the lousy wiring job that was done before I bought the little beast.
Put a sign and make it easy to read fuel pump cut off or wire in through the inertia
switch in case of an accident and the truck is shooting a flame out the front someone
would know to kill that switch!! Have you checked the inertia switch? If it won't reset
the spring could be worn out or the thing is just tripped someone might have kicked it
since it is on the firewall right by the passengers feet usually. Autozone.com has
wiring and vacum diagrams online for free almost don't need a manual!!

Yes the fuel pressure regulator will still work but the injectors are grounded by the computer and the EEC relay turns power on to the computer.
The wire color is Pink with a black stripe from the Fuel pump relay to the fuel tank selector switch. Then it is a red wire to the front pump and Brown with a white stripe to the rear. The frame-mounted pump is Pink with a black stripe from the Fuel pump relay to the pump.
