I have a motor and tranny out of a 1995 E250 (van). I am new to efi. I am going to try to put in my 1954 f100. I realize this is a computer controlled tranny.I have been searching for info on wiring. I saved almost all of the wiring harness from the van.My question, is this a speed density, mass air flow, or what type of system? Most of the info I have found is for mustang, don't know if it is the same.
It won't be OBD-II in 95, nor in a 3/4 ton vehicle. If there is a sensor mounted in-line of the air inlet to the engine, it's mass air. If not (which is my guess), it's speed density.
Yeah, it would be an EEC-IV with a TFI module on the distributor. And like mentioned above, if it has a sensor in the air tubing between the filter housing and throttlebody (close to the filter housing) that has about a 2" square cover with aout 4 wires going to it, then it is MAF.
Clean the IAC real good I use berryman chemtool it seems to get it the cleanest.
May as well clean the intake and TB and add a phenolic spacer while you are in there.
Clean the IAT intake air temp sensor while you are in there if it's all gunked up, Clean
the O2 sensor with a propane torch try 20 seconds of the sensor tip in the blue flame
try to get it cleaner it won't be sparkiling you just want to remove a layer of build up
so it can have faster reaction times. Keep the solenoid deal of the IAC pointed up
when cleaning it or remove it from the valve, you don't want to get the run off in it.
Good luck on the wiring harness take your time and rebuild that one with marine grade
tinned wire and new contacts in the connectors and you will be coming in way cheaper than a new harness ($500.00!!) http://www.skycraftsurplus.com/index...TS&Category=24 Or you can get that mil spec wire either way
marine or mil If you plan on keeping the truck use the best wire you can and it will
last forever DON"T increase the gauge on the 5 volt sensor wires or signal one just stick with the stock equivalent gauge!! http://www.sherco-auto.com/cg.htm they
have all the waterproof terminal ends like oem and oem type contacts to put back into
the stock plastic connectors for a beefed up factory looking harness. Autozone.com has
wiring and vacum diagrams online for free so you don't have to even buy a manual for
that motor. http://fordfuelinjection.com/?p=9 these guys will get you on the road to
understanding it all!!
The check is in the mail!! They are going to give you a discount on the next ford you buy LXman. Don't wait on the check. They should have sent us a new MC Tfi module for our trouble!!
