I've spent the last two weeks exploring this forum and have found it to be very helpful. I have an '83 F150 with a 302 that has a 2v carb model 2150. Is this the "feedback" carb model? I purchased a rebuild kit and will be rebuilding it soon. Is there anything significantly different from the 70's model 2 barrels that I should be aware of? I've rebuilt several of them without any problems.
If you do not have a vacuum line going to the distributor, then yes it should be a feedback carb. They are just a little different than the old carbs, but not much. The only major thing to watch out for, is do not soak the electronic carb parts in strong cleaners.
Apparently it is not a feedback carb as it has a vaccum line going into the distributor. There were so many changes from 80-86 I can't keep it all straight. There are a lot of differences under the hoods of these trucks!
I had an 82 302 2brl, and I could never get that 2150 tuned right. I replaced it with a 500cfm holley 2brl out of Summit and it ran great. I'm trying to figure out how to put it on my 85 with a 300. I need the DSII first.
Was there both a feedback AND non-feedback model 2150 carburetor? I am asking because my original feedback variable-venturi carburetor was replaced with a Motorcraft 2150 2V carburetor by the previous owner on my 1985 F-150 with TFI and EEC-IV years ago. The truck ran fine, I just never knew if the previous owner knew what he was doing and replaced the feedback carb (variable-venturi) with another feedback carb (2150?) or just slapped on a conventional carburetor (2150?) and called it a day.
I have since replaced the Motorcraft 2150 2V that was on my '85 F-150 to a Holley 4150 4V and converted to a Duraspark II igntion, so it's not really an issue for me anymore, just curious.
Thanks Franklin. How can you tell by looking at it? I still have mine, and I would really like to know if it is a feedback or a non-feedback model.
Upon closer inspection, my 2150 does have some sort of a wire with an open plug-in, and I can't really remember, if anything, it hooked up to. Is the plug-in a giveaway that it is a feedback model?
