Here's the scenario. I have a 66 with 300-6 in it. Runs great, good clutch. I just bought a 1960 F-100 to redo for a winter driver. It has great body, interior etc. but someone was going to redo motor so the took hood off and valve cover and abandoned behind barn so motor is junk. Am going to make a shop truck rat rod out of it so I can drive to work while working on 460 drop into 66. My question is: The 300 looks like it will bolt right into the 223 motor mounts, but 60 has hyd clutch setup with 3 speed. The 300 has a reg clutch setup with 4 speed toploader. Would rather keep the 60's three on the tree for nostalgia factor.
Will the 300 bolt up to three speed bellhousing so I can keep 3 speed with hyd clutch? Thanks for any thoughts and info in advance. Slick *****
I'm no expert on the compatability between these two set-ups but I don't think the 300 will bolt up to the 223 bellhousing.
My personal opinion is that the top loader 4 spd is a much better set up behind a 6 cyl than a three speed. Makes for a great truck!
Most of the time growing up we tried to get rid of the three on the tree. LOL, its funny what comes back around.
