The c6 in my bronco is not going anywhere in drive.. only goes in reverse. It was full of metal filings when I pulled the cover to change the fluid, so I'm assuming its done for.
But I have a 2wd c6 attached to a 460 that was supposedly rebuilt right before the 460 stopped running.. I checked its fluid and it looks pretty clean. So what all needs to be done? I'll have both c6s sitting on the bench, so if its easier to put the good internals in the 4wd case.. or put the 4wd parts in the 2wd case.. I have no idea what the differences are.
Cases are the same, it is just the output shaft and tail piece, but the tailshaft has to be removed from the pump side, so the entire thing has to come apart.
Dependingon the meatal shavings, you may inspect the inside of the bad case. The inside may be torn up, and the aluminum may be wasted.
