'56 headlight ring clip

I need 4 1956 Headlight Ring Grille Clips.....these are the clips which hold the ring onto the grille. Presently I made my own.....but would like to have some "real" ones. Mid-Fifty sells them for an amazing $7.00 EA ! Seems like I oughta be able to find some less expensive. Here's where I'll start (and hopefully end) my search. anybody?

4-B6C-13098-A .. Clip ~ Used only on 1956's. Prolly why there's so expensive.

I checked Green Sales' website..they don't have any.

Can you use the standard U clips available at most hardware stores? They are typically used on plastic for attaching panels and speakers in place. Good luck, Jag

Spent a day at the biggest supplier of clips to the body repair trade and looked at every clip made (took the HL bucket and the ring) and tried every clip,combo and fastener made and had no luck. Bought the 28.oo per 4 after all that. There must be a better way. Supply and demand equals gouging. Plus, the 7.00 clip is not matched to the ss screw. You must use a small rat tail to fix (enlarge) the hole or you will ruin the screw or snap the clip. I brought it to the attention of Diane at MF so they may have found the correct screw by now. They do try real hard to make happy and are still a great supplier, but I think their cost (not their fault) on the clip is just high since it is specialized.

i got a 56 grille hangin on the wall and its got 3 that i can see . how the hades do they come off . and you are meaning for the headlight trim rings ? would three do you ?

they are just clipped to the headline shroud.. push them back into the opening space. Just took mine off to get the grill chromed.

well if'n ya want 'em pm me and i will try and get them off and drop 'em in an envelope and send 'em to ya . the grille is kinda rusty so it's just a decoration and eventually , and i have the stuff to do this just haven't , i'm gonna turn it into a glorified lamp on the wall so i dont really need the clips i can improvise that . like i said though i'm only seeing three .

I took a small strip of stainless I found laying around the shop and bent it to closly match the other ones. No one will ever know that one is not stock (well...you guys will now) back there and free is a lot cheaper than $7 each.
