tow/haul flashing

well i used the search button to no success! hopefully this doent mean no one has had this problem.

to start i tow a 5k +/- inclosed trailer on a regular basis and NEVER use the tow/haul feature for any length of mentionable time.

recently whle driving WITH OUT the trailer, the tow/haul light started flashing and would not stop. After shutting downt the truck and restarting immediately it stopped. I looked in the owners manual and only found "if the tow.haul light flashes steadily, have the system serviced or severe damage could occur" (maybe not an exact quote but VERY close). I am over 1k miles from home....what should i do.....not worry about it unless it happens again.......go to the nearest stealership ASAP......wait till i return home? thanks for the help.

Please tell me what the possible problems could be!!!!!!!!

Truck has 61k miles! PSD, 4wd, Lariat.

Trans Temp Sensor would be my guess. Happened to mine, mine also shifted hard.

There's at least 50 different things that could go wrong in the trans and make the light flash. When it flashes it also stores a code in memory. That code will stay in memory for about a month. If it doesn't flash again you are probably OK. If it comes back I'd head to a Ford dealer. It takes a special scan tool to read the trans codes, and most places don't have one. Ford dealers do.

My '06 did the same thing, it turned out to be the shift solenoid in the trans, dealer installed new solenoid and problem was fixed.

mine did it too. ended up doing a 5-g rebuild. upgraded everything. the shop said the clutches were burnt. it was still drivable, but it was only a matter of time before it went south.
