just bought a '97 Crew 4x4 SRW...LOVE IT. I pull trailers all the time most less than 16k. Lots of hills and city towing (LA is a joke to pull a trailer through). The truck feels solid and the motor and trans seem OK. I know the trans will go first (oh...E4OD), so I want to start saving for a new trans. However in the mean time I want to build a reliable tow rig that I can add on to in the future.
I was thinking a DIY intake with the 6637 filter.
Some sort of adjustable chip, however I would like:
1. One or Two tow modes
2. One economy mode
3. Two high perf modes
4. High idle
5. Anti theft
6. I want the trans shift points and TC lockup points to be adjusted with the various settings.
I will be adding gauges in the pillar (trans temp, boost, pyro)
I want an exhaust (3 or 4 in. DP with a 4 or 5 in from there back...I want a cat delete pipe and I will keep the muffler (unless it really does not quiet the thing down)).
Upgrades will be injectors and fueling, but that can come later.
Please recommend any manufacturers or changes to the above list.
Also, I will need a trans and TC in the future, so looking for tips there too.
I have the auto hubs with manual Trans Case...are the hubs crap or are they OK?
Thanks all for the help and I look forward to learning much here.
sounds like a fine truck. welcome to fte.
sounds like a good start on the to do list(you must have been reading here for a while?). stock auto hubs are crap. warn gold series are pretty sweet. dont forget the nut kit.
Howdy and Welcome to the site and the forums. Sounds like a nice rig to big from. Be sure and check with your local chapter and don't forget the search function, tons of info there. Check in with the folks in the forums for answers to a lot of your questions.
