What all need to be done to the torqshift tranny to make it a good, reliable, tranny? I want to upgrade without buying another tranny yet. My truck has SCT from Spartan and MBRP 4" turbo back. Only sees occassional towing of the stang to the track and I am starting to get into truck pulling. That is why I am asking. I want to drive to the pull, have fun and drive back home. Thanks.
i had mine beefed up with a DP products triple disc low stall full billet torque converter. 1200 bucks. this came with a stiffer spring for the front pump to bump up line pressure.
i also had my torqshift upgraded with brand new internals, all of the aluminum parts were upgraded to steel. we also used more splines on these pieces vs. stock. and the friction material for the clutchpacks is also upgraded heavy duty.
the only thing i did not do is add the billet shafts, the tranny cost me 3200 installed on top of the price for the converter.
it has been in for almost 30K HARD miles and no problems at all since i've had it.
believe it or not mine was built by my boy jason at cottman transmission. it is one of those franchise places, but i told them what my plans were for the truck and they came up with the right package for me. they changed a lot of stuff and upgraded it quite a bit.
