Quick question. How would I know if I have a bad tranny mount? My '90 F350 4WD 5-speed stutters occasionally at takeoff and the gear shifter rises up and down like there is no tomorrow whenever I accelerate. Already checked the u-joints and had to replace the one attached to the t-case, this helped quite a bit but still stutters occasionally. My main concern is the movement of the gear shifter. Rear u-joint is good also. Thanks!
Or a combination of both I had a two wheel drive truck years ago that shuttered under acceleration and it turned out to be the left front mount and thetranny mount

Never thought about the motor mounts. The tranny mount looks somewhat coroded but hell the truck is a '90 and the mount looks original. Motor mounts= I'll check those also. Are those a pain to change out?
The motor mount is rather durable.
There are three bolts holding it to the engine, two bolts hold it together and two more bolts hold it to the crossmember.
I would think that a couple bolts were loose before I would think the mount is bad.
