I have a 1989 F250 with towing, has 16.5 8 lug wheels and i have been having problems getting new tires 31x10.5 on it. as alot of you probly know 16.5 are not as easy to get as they once was i could go to 16 but i want to keep the rims i got back when ( almost 20 years ago ) lol. i have got a place i can get some 33x12.5x 16.5 but i am worried aobut the mpg i will get with them already run around 10 on my new motor a bit over 5000 miles on it sence we put it in. and 2 eye balling it looks like the 33s will fit but i wont be sure till i see em on. anyone know if they will fit without rubbing and how much they will bother my porfomance? thanks
my 33;s do rub a little in full turn, but i am fixing to get 36 humvee tires to replace them with. i do not notice it that much, i mean really how many times do you turn that tight...and yes 16.5 are getting hard to find............
Finaly got around to getting the 33x12.5s on. They look Great drive great. Yes they do rub a bit at full turn. anyone know a good place to get wheel spacers for the 8 lug? and is the 8x 170 the right one to get for the 89 or is that the size for the newer trucks ?
I used to run them (16.5) on a 78 For the cost of the 16.5 tires when I could find them. I changed rims . Didn't want to they were the old hurricain type. But the cost and limited sizes was getting crazy . good luck with 33"s
ME you need 8 lug on 6.5"
the 170 mm is the new truck size
the cheapest place I found for spacers is pep boys (ugh)
had to special order hear and with P B that is a night mare
had to have them on my van to run closed lug nuts
Thanks for the info guys. and yes 16.5 are geting few and costly but i really didnt want to give up my old rims. and its a good reason to add a couple inches up along with the spacers
