Will 16.5 x 12.50s fit 16.5 x 9.75 wheels?

I have a set of 16.5 x 9.50 Aluminum hurricane wheels. I'm looking at new BFG 33' All terrain 16.5 x 12.50 tires. Thats the only size I can find. Will they fit?

those tires are 3" wider than the rim...IF you got them mounted on the rim, they would look awkward because the tread would be that much wider than the rim. So I would say no.

yes they will fit. 3 inches isn't bad. the tires should probably have an advertised recommended wheel size on them as well.

I've seen many trucks from the 80's, 90's and Super Duty's run 35x12.5 or 315's on a factory 8" or 8.5" whatever they are wheel. I always thought they look fine however I run a 17/40-16.5 on a 9.75" wheel so maybe my opinion is biased. My tire is 14" from edge of tread to tread.

Yes, they'll look just fine. These are 16.5 X10. I can't believe 1/4" would make them look any different than these.

Usually you can get whatever you want from the parts store. You'll have to buy two sets, but that's the cheapest way to go. I needed the shoulder nuts for my wheels. They have 1/2" / 20 nuts in sets of 20. 16 regular nuts and washers and 4 locks. Well, 16 times 2 is 32. you just end up with 8 locks extra. It's still cheaper than buying 32 lug nuts individually.

Rule of thumb is, you can use a wheel 2 1/2" narrower than your tread width. Usually the advertised tread width is actually the section width. The tread width is a bit narrower, so you can get away with narrower wheels.

I've run 12.5" wide tires on 8" wide wheels, 13" and 14.5" wide tires on 9.75" wide wheels and 15" wide tires on 10" wheels. You'll be perfectly fine.

the width of the tire is at the widest point of the sidewall, not the tread, and 3" , isn't that bad. I'd do it if they were mine.
