428 heads

hey i got an engine from a parts truck of mine and found that it is a 360 that has 1968 428 heads on it can anybody tell me why this combo would have been put together? will it perform ok?

Unless the heads are from a 428 Police Cruiser or Cobra Jet/Super Cobra Jet engine, they are EXACTLY the same heads as the ones used on 1968/72 360/390 truck engines, and 1965/71 352/390/410 passenger cars. While some heads are drilled for smog pump manifolds, the heads are the same otherwise.

What is the casting number on the heads? C8AE-6090-H? If so like Bill said these are just std issue FE heads. The C8OE-6090-N's were the CJ heads that are most common to find on a factory CJ engine.
