Y or Z?

I always get asked when I'm buying parts if it's for a 300z or a 300y engine, how could I find this out and what do they mean?

ok I found out it's the 8th digit in my VIN # which would be a Y.

Y or Z?

The Z motor was the emissions motor, with severly retarded cam timing, a different cam, and a spark box with a brown grommet.
