ok my 1973 ford 302 just started this...it will rev up to about 3200rpm and then its like its starving for gas but its still going slowly and it pops really bad..like backfireing...i think its the fuel pump what do you all think...it runs fine all the way to 3200...
Is it backfiring through the carb? That would sound like a timing issue, if it runs just fine and dandy till you start to wind it up, then is goes bad... check your advance, make sure your dist vac advance doesnt drop off.
By the way how is the weather? I am originally from Harrisonville,,,
How many miles are on it? Is the fuel filter plugged? Dont waste your money on a new distributor if you dont know for sure that theres something wrong with it.
On another note:
Some people when they do major tune-up work don't put any lube on the distributor cam.. Not lubing this cam will cause the points block to wear down really quick and cause all sorts of ignition problems
well its came down to something in the disturbor or something with the igition so im gonna try another coil...and then just a disturbor..
