I have a 97 and today I noticed a greasy, worn, washer, kinda looked like the lock washer on a 2wd or trailer wheel bearing/spindle nut lying on top of the head by the oil galley plug.
I looked around and it looks like it fell out of the back of the alternator.
My alternator seems to be charging just fine, for now.
My questions is, is this a sign of increased heat from wearing bearings in the alternator, or just something that happened and is not a tell tell sign that I may need a new alternator soon?
