So i'm starting to look around for a good used truck and this is what i'm looking for: 2wd or 4wd but prefer 2wd.
3/4 ton
extended cab
Diesel or gasoline but must be able to pull a 22' camper up some hills
And in the mid to late 90's range, because of price.
Are there known models I should stay away from? Presently have an 84 f250 that I want to baby through the winter and have been very happy with it but it's it to upgrade alittle.
For occasional use get a diesel or 460, there's no beating them at towing, if you want/need to drive it more and would like fuel milage into the 'teens get a 351. Pay attention to the gearing, best towing power comes with higher ratios, but milage tanks. Considering it's not recommended to tow heavy loads in OD, aim for a ratio in the 3.55 to 3.73 range, that way the rpms are not too high in D at 60mph.
What years would the differential in my 84 cover just incase I wanted to swap it to another year truck. It has 4.10's now that was completely rebuilt about 2k miles ago.
