oil leak

Just changed the oil in my 78 F100. Truck has 260,000 miles on it, and has some problems, but leaking a whole-lotta oil was never a problem untill after the oil change. Big puddle under rear of motor when I stop for a few minutes, and oil splatter on rear of tailgate after 60 mph on highway...funny thing is the oil level isn't dropping! Tranny level is ok. Where could oil be comming from?:-X23

You won't believe this...check the coolant levels...I had the same problem on my 84 with 285,000, and somewhere they got mixed up, and when the lower radiator hose went, I had two leaks...one dripped from the actual hose, one traveled to the rear of the engine

I'll check that out! More info; oil under truck is dirty black, oil on dipstick is fresh and clean, level still not going down. Puddle isn't tranny fluid, gas, or power steering fluid. Dident check the brake juice, but I'll check that next. Too cold to spend alot of time on the ground, but a quick check showed the starter wet with lots of oil on its underside, and streaming down it while motor was running!

oil leak

The trans cooler lines run RIGHT by the starter - have they rubbed a hole that's spraying onto the starter?
