Ignition Wire Quality?
Seeking your advice on ignition wires? I've decided to change my wires as engine sometimes idles rough, and it has been about 8 years since I put the last ones on.
A local parts shop wants $23 for a Bosch set; $27 for Standard. NAPA wants $29 for a set from Beldin. Ford dealer wants $50. A Magnecor set would be what? 60-70 bucks.
Fifty bucks is not going to break me; but I don't like paying extra unless there is some return for it.
Any of the brands I mentioned particularly good, or bad, given the price. You guys that know the subject far better than me: Which ones would you get?
Thanks
Raul
You are right about not skimping on quality. The Bosch sounds to cheap, although they make good products. Standard is a good brand. Beldin is good. The dealer is what came on the truck.
I have beldin in my truck. I don't know if there are different grades, but I got the lifetime warranty ones at NAPA. I am happy with them. Which is best? I can't say for sure. My only criteria is to get the higher quality set. There seems to be 2 or 3 quality levels everywhere you go.
A bottle of Iso-heet cleared up all my problems. Now she purrs regardless of the temperature (well, as much as an I6 can purr anyway.)
But the info on the wires will be helpful later.
Thanks
Raul
