hallo I'm new to this forum but I find it very, very helpfull.
got many answers if not all to my troubles.
just got my 02 EX 4x4 V10,have few minor problems but I'm pretty
handy and I get around with most of them.I bought it of auction and
they don't provide any info about the truck.
My question is ;how can I find out if my truck is still under warranty.
PS.I'm working on my hublocks cause they are shut I will sacrify them
for the sake of science and cut them apart.
will let you all know soon about it.I've took them apart all ready and stop
at black bottum seal.BTW the plastic actuator inside is removable and is not glued in just pressed in and easy to disband also..there's a little niple on the seal and you press the actuator on.I'd find lots of residue
behind the black seal ,can't get it out without destroying the hub I guess.
Based on the model year it is out of warranty. However, it may have a Ford Extended Service Plan attached to it. Your dealer can run the VIN to see. If it does, you may have a challenge with getting it transferred over to you. I think there is a transfer fee and the previous owner has to submit it but I could also be thinking about Chevy too.
I have read that the black seal is the part that is most messed up upon re-installation as it is a 'stepped' type seal...I believe there is a special tool that applies even pressure to ALL surfaces at the same time so it doesn't bunch or bind when being pressed in...mis-alignment on installation is what I believe causes vacuum loss and ultimately lack of operation for the hubs...I think...
Ok went to dealer checked out .no more warranty 5 years went by.
As for hubs before I had chance to do anything they got stolen .Looking for new ones.
poor thiefs, stoled broken hubs.hmmmm watch out guys.
great thread.
