My 72- 360 went to the machine shop with 165-k and a wrist pin knock'in, It came home with a fresh 390 crank, bored 30 over and new pistons , we added headers and a 4-v, now, after one year and 3200 miles, my piston is on the work bench because of the hammerin it was doing, do FE wrist pins/ rods go bad or did dipstick put the old rod back in, just wondering ?

I don't believe that FE wrist pins/rods are any more susceptible to wear than those used in any other engine. 3,200 mi./1 year is way too soon to be back in there. Sounds like you need to have a talk with your mechanic.
A properly built FE will NOT do this, that soon. can you rock the piston when connected to the rod, I mean rock against the pin, not with the pin. You should have zero rock against the pin. Can you wiggle the piston while holding the rod? The piston should move only along one plane in the direction of the pin.
