I've got what appears to be a 1975 FE390 block that came out of a truck. The strange thing is on the left/front of the block, under the head, the "352" is cast upside down. Directly above the upside down casting is a larger "6" (or 9 if its upside down too). I've never seen the 352 cast upside down before, anybody else?
All FE engines, 390,360,428,etc. are derived from the 352 FE engine. All of these engines used the 352 block, according to the "Rebuilding Ford FE books", because the 352 had so much girth to them, they could be bored out to provide the necessary cubic inches.
Suckin gas ans haulin'A$$,390 Ford!
Not ALL FE's had 352 on the block. Some heavy duty blocks had an upside down and backwards 105.

Im building a 60s custom out of a 1960 Ranchero, and I amputting a 352 in it. What c6 will work behind it, I have one from a 78 truck w/302, will it work? Also, are there any finned valve covers out there for it?
Proeliator, people seem to have missed the point of your post - yes many FEs have "352" cast in front of number 5 cylinder, but I have never seen or heard of one where it is upside down. I checked what books I have and many had pictures of the normal "352" none mentioned an upside down one.
not all fe blocks have 352 cast in them. most do i have whats supposed to be a 63 390 from a galaxie in my highboy. it does not have the 352 casting in it.
