power steering pumps

i have a 65-69 390, roughly guessing from different casting #'s adn bolt holes, i was wondering if there is any way to bolt in a pwer steering pump unit from say a newer year car/truck. the pump i have now is a rebuilt one, still in the box but, it is really ugly. THis motor is in a 53 ford f-100 pu. and it is almost to completely being finished to show at car shows. so i dont want any seeing an ugly janky looking pump bolted to my block.

any info would be great,

power steering pumps

When I "exchanged" my '74 sluggy 360 for a '65 Mercury 390 I was able to simply move the power steering pump and brackets to the "older" motor, using the same bolts. However, having just upgraded to the 78-79 power steering box, I found out that the pumps are different for the 351's and 400's, thus the mounting bracket too. So, seems like you can use a pump up thru mid '70s if you can find a satisfactory "prettier" one, but may have a problem any later than that. Good Luck. :-)

I've got a "pretty" ps pump in my '68 and I've also got one of the "ugly" ones, I think it came out of a '70 or '71. The one in my '68 is original so you might try to find a donor in the wrecking yards.
