Backup sensor switch

I think my back up sensor switch is broken. It always lights up "OFF" and the back up sensor beeps when there is nothing behind me. Do you guys think its the switch or something else. How do you get the switch out ? Is the switch exspensive ?

Make sure there is really nothing behind you at least for about 50ft. Mine has a pretty good range and will also detect the ground if I am on a slight dip. I think it sometimes can pick up a tall weeds cuz mine will go off even if I know there is nothing behind me.

there is nothing behind me. I used it in the same place before it started acting up. Its intermittent now, it beeps and stops and beeps again and there is nothing back there. Also it doesn't beep when there is something back there, which is super bad.

More then likely one (or more) of the sensors has gona bad in back. its fairly common. Do a search for it on this board and you will find out a lot about it. I dont think anyone has had it be the dash switch ever. The rear sensor is about 45 bucks i believe?

Coulda been 65, wasnt too bad at all from what i remembered. I was waiting for some sticker shock in t eh tune os 120-200 a peive and heard a low number and was releived. Turned out the sensor just didnt liek all teh water i splashed on it during the car wash though so i didnt actually need a new sensor.

For $15 I am going to replace the switch and see what happends. If that doesn't fix it how can you figure out which on of the sensors isn't working ?

Mine is always on when the TT hitch is mounted..I got one of those ball covers and that didn't stop it either.. About the only thing that works is to cover the hitch with a shop towel or remove the hitch...

Mine had the same symptoms and I took it to the dealer. They replaced the rear alarm speaker to correct the problem.

update:

I bought the switch for $15. Before I had a chance to put it in my dad got a job at a dealership. Before he started working there he priced the rear sensors and they told him $70 I think. Well after he started working there he made a friend that is a tech. He looked at it turns out it was a sensor. He got the sensor, put it in and put the switch in I bought all for $50. I didn't ask what his price on the sensor was but I thinking he wanted at least $20 for his time.

It's not the switch. It's one of the sensors. Go somewhere and run codes on the park aid module or run all codes. It will be a 1703 or something similar, or check the continuity of all the sensors and compare to each other.
