Thanks to everyone who helped me find the upgrade kits for the power window motor. I greatly appreciate it. Now, where do I get the rivets to put the darn thing back inside the door? I was going to do bolts and nuts but the rivet way seems to be the best. Besides the room trying to fig-nag the nut onto the bolt is way to tight for my puggy fingers. Also If the bolts end up too long it will hit against the gear bar. Any information would again be greatly appreciated. Dan (1990 F-150)
I use self-tapping bolts and I put a piece of electrical tape over the head and then wedge the socket onto it. Then I use the socket/extension to put the bolt into the hole.
http://www.mcmaster.com has up to 1/4" rivets - not sure if that is big enough. If not, check with a local Ford dealer. They are used on most of Ford's products, for a variety of items within the door shell. You will need a good sized double handle rivet gun to install those. If you don't have one, buy one with the offset handle, not one that looks like a set of pruning shears. I bought that type and damn did I bust my knuckels the first time I popped one of those things.
What???,,,, you mean there's an upgrade kit?? Man don't tell me there is something better than the plastic(nylon) replacement parts for the window motors.. I just did my p-side door today with the nylon kit. And if there is an upgrade to that kit, ,......damn!! Wish I would of did a search before fixing mine!!!!
