Hiya folks, Names Jason,.. I posted a quick intro down at the "intro spot", and figured Id get right to it....
I have a question, or curiosity rather about Fords mentality behind the punched/non-punched door hinge access covers on the 53-56's. My girlfriend has a stack of both types we've been cleaning up and reselling(along with other parts), and its always baffled me as to why the differences. Its probably some easy answer, but I still havent figured it out. Anyone out there know something about this, please fill me in. Thanks Jason
I'm with bobby on this one as I am not too familiar with the "newer trucks" (that's a good one)....but my thought is that one is a performance cover and the other is standard. The performance hinge access is punched to allow for better aerodynamics improving overall performance....LOL
nope, they dont line up with anything really...
my explaination is, maybe at some point they thought this would allow air to escape from the cab quicker as the doors were closed?.

LOL, man that's good. I am going to drill the 2 blank ones in my 56 first thing in the A.M. I could sure use that extra .0001 mpg that it would achieve. I like your SOH Kusto.

Wow!! after reading all this information about these new fanangled components I'm thinking I might need to sell my 49 and step up into the modern world and find me a 53-56 truck.
...Just think, .001 increase in mileage, better aerodynamics, balanced doors that close a hairs breadth easier due to the high performance pressure relief holes.....
WOW! Its just too much to take in. Ol Henry was really on top of his game
