The first annual state inspection on my '07 F-150 was due this month, so I dropped by my mechanic's shop to get a sticker. The shop was bought by a different mechanic and this was the first time I met him. He was getting the VIN off the door sticker and commented "Didn't you say this was a 2007? Says here 9/06". I actually had to talk about how they start shipping the new models in the Fall of the prior year before it dawned on him. Then, he said "I'll just take it up the street to get the inspection - we don't have our license yet". That was it for me. I think I'll 'go up the street' the next time I need somebody to do something on my cars.
Stay Faaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrr away!!!!!!
I would only hope he wasn't a "mechanic" maybe just the office counter person. Even still he should have more knowledge than that.
Hey, the guy is the owner and top mechanic! I noticed when I rolled up that there were only two cars in the shop and only one or two outside. This should have tipped me off but I figured it was because he was new. You see, I live in a very urbanized county near several cities. You have to wait in line here for everything. Every restaurant they build is immediately swamped, along with any other kind of service facility like car repair shops. To find one with basically no business on a Monday morning is a big red flag. You have to suck pretty bad to fail in a service business around here. Our greater metro area is at least a million people.
