You guys are a big help, I have been working on cars or motorcycles my whole life, a little new to Power Stroke thing. I sure hope the trans does not need to come out, my wife is a big Chevy lover, and she has been telling me all day that we should of bought a Chevy HD. Silly Woman.
OK, the TC engages when the wire coming from the PCM to the TC is grounded. So, with that in mind, It would seem that what Ron said may be the key. Find the wire that goes to the TC and trace it out. Look for pin number 6 in the forward most grey connector under the brake master cylinder, that is the TC wire.
I will check that tomorrow morning, not only is it dark, but it is just starting to rain. I will update everyone tomorrow, once again, thank you for your help.
Ron, the trans fluid looks great, and it ran fine on Sunday, The truck has 90k on it, and it never tows anything. It acted up in reverse on Sat then this morning it would not go in D or R.
busa, I will tow it for you if that is what it comes down to.
I am about 45 min from the zoo, so I cant be too far from you. It sounds pretty promising for you though. Maybe you can find somebody better than the stealership too if that is what goes down.
Scott
only way I could think of is un plug at the Trans or un plug the c-103 plug on the fender well..but I'm not sure how the safety switch works..it may not even try to start....the truck starts and idles good right?? then when he puts it in gear it jumps forward and stalls???

Well, after playing with it for a few hours, I decided to have it towed. I got a great deal, used the company my work uses, just had to pay $1 a mile, no hook fee. Took it to ATD a transmission place near me. They dove right into it. The TC is totally screwed. The plate that almost looks like a cluth plate in there with small fingers on the outer edge showed very bad wear. That plate rides in grooves in the outer housing of the TC when the truck is in under full power. It had lodged itself inbetween grooves and was stuck in full lock. So new TC, will have the pump upgraded while they are in there, and hopefully everything else will be ok the farther they dig into it. Thanks for all your suggestions, and thanks for the offer of a tow. I am very glad to have found this site.
Glad you figured out what was up. Sounds like a tow was your best option. Don't think we could have got that going for you. You will notice a differance in the sound of the new TC. The 99,s are known for noisey TC's. Most sound like marbles in a can when unlock. Replace mine 1.5 years ago and it never sounded so good.
Welcome to the site and hang around, there is an unbelievable amount of knowledge here and a willingness to help that you won't find anywhere else.
Once you get her back on the road, let us know how it runs.
Are you going with the stock TC? There are a lot of better options...it may be too late though. Do a search or two...you will come to appreciate how much the search sucks on this site too!
