how many have f450s.i want to know your towing impressions, is it worth the mony or should i buy 350.want to know becauce im getting some bigger equipment that my 01 f250 wont handle.
How much will the equipment weigh? If you plan on upgrading even more in the next few years you may as well go with the 450 just to remain safe, but if the 350 dually will be able to handle it and you think you'll keep that for awhile I'd just go with the 350 dually.
A F350 dually would have handled my fiver that can be loaded up to 16,000# but who knows -- I might get 2footitis in the future. One factor in my decision on the 450 was the difference in the brakes.
I have a F-450 and I love it and plus my 38FT tt with any problem plus I bought if want to go too a 5fwheel I have the truck to do it. I also price F-350 CC SD PSD and it wasn't much more so I went with the F-450. The wide track front end and Better turning radis I like it lot easy to get around in tracfic and when parking trailer easier to do with the F-450. Just get the 4.3 rear end not the 4.88 reaf end for mpg's.
See the link below for my towing experience with the 450. Made the tripple jump from a 99 350DRW V10 to the 450. Looking back on it could get by with a 350, but will be upgrading to a 19k 5ver I did like the extra braking power. Speed bumps are much rougher. Not as much spring bounce in the 450, it is extra firm. If you go with a 350 be sure to go with the wide track. Gears are going to depend on how much you tow. pros and cons on both. Do your research on FTE. link is https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/633173-16-650-towing-experience-for-1665-1-miles.html#post5045323
i will probably be towing from 19000 to 21000 pounds.iv got a case backhoe and my restored 52 ford f4
You'll need a 450 for sure. should be able to get by with 4.30's. The thing to keep in mind. if you are over 20,000# and you get into an accident you are liable for towing over the truck gross. So you need to be sure of the weight. Also I think it is total 27 or 28k you need a CDL, some others from FTE can tell you for sure. If towing over 20 legally you would need 4.88's. Hiway driving over 60 mph empty will drop fuel milage.
26k for the CDL, and if you tow that weight very often I would go 4.88. Hmm actually that is what I did. BTW if you are towing 21k no matter what truck you are using, unless it is a toyota you will need a CDL if it is for business.

You can tow 21K with a toyota?
I would agree anything over 20K should have the 4:88's other wise the 4:30 are great.
Towed my 19K F'ver 10500 miles with no issues.
Can't wait until the next adventure.

Congrats on your decision, Couldn't be happier with my 450.I use a Garmin gps that is portable. Did you take a look at the new back up camera in the mirror? Might be handy sometimes to see the dog or kids running behind the truck. Kimminau has always added a lot of great info to this site to help guys like you.
