Well TNT and I had a helluva day... We managed to get the 05-07 Intake Elbow from Accufab on, while removing the 04 Throttle Valve.. No codes, no issues, no limp mode Gotta love a custom ECM.. It seems about the same, little smoother.. Also did the CCV reroute and ran the line down to the frame.. Doesn't smoke at all, let alone spew oil everywhere.. Not bad.. So here's some photo's for it.. And few of the rig just sitting at the house..
Look at the blackness, thats Oil.. Not cool!
Its not the best picture but an idea for ya'll.. I need to clean up lines and stuff, should have done it today but I was beat..
And last but not least.. Here's my baby.. Even tho she got a love scar on the bed, I'm pissed at her for it.. But I still love the big lug
Thanks.. The paint damage to the D/S bed upsets me.. I got a truck show next weekend I'm in and now I gotta get it fixed asap..

Nope.. Easiest way is to remove the intake system from the Turbo back.. Gives you perfect access to the system The CCV elbow from the actual vent on the valve is keyed, if you turn it so the elbow is facing towards the front of the truck it comes right off.. However its hard to twist when your trying to pull the intake, so just yank it a bit and it'll come out :
storm, didn't you already do an elbow earlier this year? and I thought that if the throttle body was disconnected on the 03/04 m.y. it wouldnt matter as far as a cel light went?

I had the 03-04 Elbow from intakeelbow.com, it collapsed on me.. So I decided to remove the throttle valve and put the 05-07 accufab elbow in because its a cast piece, not mandrel bent tubing welded to a flat deck..
I have no CEL, mainly due to a custom ECM.. The parameters that control the throttle valve are disabled along with the EGR.. Turns out after some research, the throttle valve is actually tied into the EGR system.. Since mines completely disabled, the TV does pretty much nothing but look pretty..
For the most part we've only confirmed CEL's on 03-04's destine for California.. Believe it was A-Rod who disconnect his and a CEL surfaced.. I ran mine completely disabled within the ECM for about 2 months with no CEL. Either way if it comes on, no problem.. Just annoying to most to see a CEL..

Hey Storm what did you use to plug the turbo where the CCV went to it? I'm fixin to do this and would like to have some idea what kind of size and plug I will need for the turbo. Thanks for any help on this.. Steve

not to be digging up old posts, but i was thinking about putting a 05-07 elbow on my 04. is there anything that i should know before i tackle this? right now i have my egr unplugged and no cil light...so am i safe to assume that i can simply unplug the throttle plate without any issues? also, would i need to pick up a different set of bolts since the 1 long one i have now would seem to be too long? would i need 4 different ones, or just 1 more to replace the long bolt i have now. sorry if this seems to be a no brainer but i hate getting half way threw a project then have to do my running around chasing parts. thank you
btw, thanks for the great pics...the mod looks great
You will use the 3 bolts you take off.. You will need another bolt tho as there are 4 for the elbow.. As whether it works or not depends if you had the valve removed and the parameters taken out of the PCM. My truck didnt get the delete from FoMoCo, we used a different PCM strategy on a tuner to keep the truck from acting up. You need to pull your elbow and see if the plate is there or if there is electrical pins on your plug to the throttle valve.
thanks guys. i've unplugged my egr, and removed the throttle plate from the body but left everything electrical hooked up (no light)...i did notice a bit of a difference in the way that the truck ran (for the better). i just unplugged my connections to the throttle plate solenoids and started the truck...also no check engine light. so am i safe to assume that i'm fine as far as lights and drivability goes...shouldn't go into limp mode or anything like that? do you think that the elbow will help with air flow over what i have already done? i guess just getting some of that bulky junk outta there is worth it alone.

It can trigger a soft code/limp mode.. This is how I came to the end result of needing a different strategy. I originally pulled the plug and drove.. After a few days I lost boost.. Put it all back together, took it in.. Throttle Valve failure, replaced, everything back to normal with boost. Then myself and some buddies went into thought and determined the correct way was to pull the valve completely and use a Tuner and the FSM8 Strategy for the 04's that did not include any throttle valve parameters..
