problems after running b99

well i ran some b99 in my 90 7.3 and it was fine then started missing specially when its cold and also i don't see how the fuel is causing it to puff out huge amounts of really light blueish smoke. you can also hold the throttle at about 2k and it will all by itself want to redline. last time this happened i changed my fuel filter and went back to ulsd and it seemed to run good after that. what could be causing this? ive thought of the injection pump but it already was replaced before i bought the truck when i cleaned it i noticed it had a rebuilt pump on it already. any other suggestions?

B99 has a higher gel point than diesel, much higher I think, so that cold spell might have got it all gelled up.. I would just fill it back up with ulsd, dump in a quart of 2 stroke oil and see what happens..

B99 will gel at around 35-40 deg. depending on quality. Here in Michigan my fuel supplier will not sell even B20 after Oct 15th due to possible gelling. I have ran it but sometimes at 5 deg I noticed I was starting to have problems. So now I run B5 so no problems year round. Some of my farm equipment is used in very cold weather and can't afford to have fuel problems.

B99 is good as a summer fuel. But in the real world, you should have a coolant heat exchanger on the fuel line for the higher content biofuels. For winter operation a coolant line is often routed to the tank itself.

Are you still having problems with dinodiesel after switching back?

ya im still having trouble, but i havent really ran a fuel tank or so through it yet so my though was maybe run a couple of tanks and see if its still acting up. maybe put some diesel clean or something in with the fuel. i just dont understand how thats going to cause the excessive amount of smoke.. i dunno i just cant afford to be paying 40 dollars for a new fuel filter and what not everytime i run bio.
