ok guys,
so after finally getting my block heater functioning this morning by replacing the cord, i barely made it home this afternoon with an injector dousing the whole driver's side of the engine compartment and turbo. I know you veterans have heard this one a million times, but is it o-rings or bad injector? It's the easiest one to get to- driver's side front- and i'd like to fix it myself before driving anymore (if it is the o-rings). It does still start and run, but very rough. No smoke at all, which made me think it was the tranny self destructing on the hiway or clogged fuel filter... the fuel spray all over hood, turbo, etc. made me think otherwise. I could then see a few bubbles coming out between top nut and tee intersection. The truck is a 94 factory turbo w/163K e40d 4x4. I did have my mech install new o-rings and return lines 2000 miles ago, so i don't get it. Thanks in advance.
i saw fuel bubbling out between the nut and tee after shutting it down, so i guess it's the orings? i aint no mechanic, if you hadn't figured that out by now, but i might try to do this fix..
I had two fuel line craked on my 7.3. One two years ago, one this summer. One was easy to replace, the other was quite a task, it was the first injector, it connects to the bottom of the pump, if you are not a mechanic, forget it, you need a crow foot, extension, swivel to get at it.
You could loosen/remove the injector line at the injector and reseat the return line cap, then reseat the nipple on the injector. ensure it fits into the injector and finger tighten the line..Sometimes the line nipple is not seated right before torqueing.
thanks guys
i'm pretty sure the line's not cracked. I loosened the cap and retightened it and still sprayed fuel upon startup. How can you buy just orings not the whole return kit?
thanks again
