Live Tuning?

What's the buzz all about this 'live tuning?'

I've been noticing in sigs (not so much here, but) alot of people fronting the 'DP live tune' and was wondering what the deal was...

Am I missing out on something I've never cared about before?

It's not like selling freezers to Eskimos.
Every truck coming off the production line, while they would like them to be exactly the same in every way, simply are not.
Live tuning tweaks with those minute variations to gain that last 2 HP potential from the engine and that requires tweak a setting, test run down the track.
Repeat until you are happy with it.

the tuner rides in your truck while you drive, he makes measurements and does cylinder pressure testing. Its all in the CP tuning, cylinder pressures can mean a strong running 400hp PMR safe truck or a 300hp truck with forged rods on the verge of bending. He can also tune the ICP, some trucks run better with 2800psi or some run better with 3600.

If i recall correctly, ThugLike from PSN had 565hp on a standard tune from DP based on just telling him what he had done. Then he got live tuned and i believe he went to 617 hp.

So DP 'live tuning'... Is that Jody sittin' in the truck with the laptop?

My truck has been tuned on Brian's dyno by Cale (a hand full of times), how much more live'er can it get?

I don't know, good point. You can pay to get a few more hp, but with 600, do you really NEED more?

Extruded five holers, as far as flow rate in cc's? Good question... how about between 450 and 500.

Your guess is as good as mine. I don't know an injector builder that could tell you to the 'T' how many cc's an injector flows. Maybe mm^3 or something but that's rocket science to me!

I sent an email to DDP asking them how many cc's my injectors were (.0075" EH 7 hole) and here is the response I got:

"Hi Jeremy,

I have to say honestly that we do not know. Back when we started doing PSD injectors we decided to rate them in Horsepower not cc’s. When you put a 7.3 injector on a test stand to measure cc’s you can easily manipulate how much fuel the injector flows by controlling pressure and all kinds of adjustments. We decided that getting into that game could be a risky one since maybe we might have tested them closer the actual factory specs than the next guy. Kind of like buying a car stereo that says it has 100 WATTS!!! of power built in. It is up to whomever the manufacture is to decide how many cc’s they want to call their injectors, not how many cc’s they flow with set guidelines standardized by the industry. So there you have it, my little explanation. Let me know if you have more questions.

Thanks,

Ross

My DDP injectors were sourced through ITP, but they are indeed DDP injectors. I've got true 530's in there now.
