Just tell them you need a reflash. But what I usually do is just reflash PCM to latest calibration which should tell them before they flash it what calibration is present and if there is a later one aval.
fixed 4.6 99 ford f-150 no more promblems with truck
[QUOTE=slippinout10]i used accel high out put coils on my 4.6 cost was about 140.00 but it worked.stopped all skipping, all lose of pulling power, could not ask for a better truck now. slippinout10
Well I finally got rid of that 401 code with a new dpfe. I will say no one could find the part because it was listed under egr system differently. I still have the slipping and have decided to change ALL coils just to be sure. I do have 104,000 miles on six of the original eight. I changed two coils and all plugs two years ago and it did help for a little while. I'll be hoping for the same result as slippiout10.
;HECK YEAH!!!! No more problems. Finally changed all plugs again and all 8 COP's(coils). 500 miles and NO issues at all and it looks like my gas mileage my reach 20mpg. Should at least be 18mpg. I can't believe I was in denial about my COP's. Found one old plug still in place as well but I believe my issue was still bad COP's. I must have been out of it to miss one plug two years ago when I changed them out. Oh well, I am really glad everythng is finally resolved. Maybe she will make it to 200,000 miles. Thanks everyone for the input!!!
It is amazing that I have a 1998 Lincoln continental 4.6l with the same problem with no solution. The dealer tried to diagnose the problem for 4 days. They said that all 8 of the coils were bad. All plugs and COPs have been replaced. Well, to my amazement, I still have the same sputtering between 1500-2500 rpm and it is worse under load. This problem seems to get asked on the net without an answer. If you have any ideas please help.
I had stumbling 98 expedition when under load ie ac and in drive with brakes on...changed plugs, wires, and coil packs...no joy. Finally found plug wires 2 and 3 reversed...truck ran with plugs reversed but ran rough and stumbled, hope this helps someone.
