Stumble at idle and under load
I think I have read just about every related thread. I have a 97 E-350 Clubwagon with a V-10 and 144Kmi. It had been sitting for a couple of years and barely ran when I put a new battery in and started it. In fact, it wouldn't run much above idle, so I had it towed to a shop and had the gas tank cleaned and fuel pump replaced. Ran better but still had a nasty miss under load. The PO had replaced the COPs, but inexplicably did not replace the plugs. So I replaced the plugs (might be the hardest single task I have done on a car) and it ran much better. Pretty sure the plugs were original. Solved one more problem when I discovered that COP wire #8 was mislabeled as #7. The van ran great - for a day or two. First, it started randomly stumbling at idle. No big deal. But now, it is sometimes stumbling under a load - but not always. I also now have a P0401 code, so I will be replacing the EGR valve. I replace the air filter already and the gas filter. The van seems to have good power otherwise, but I usually drive a VW bus, so what do I know? I am thinking of cleaning the MAF Sensor. One small item: There is a thin ground strap attached to the edge of the cowling. Where doe the other end go? Any idea on the stumble would be appreciated.
