Ok, quick question. If my X doesn't come with the audio controls in the steering wheel, can I add them?? If so, how much (est.) This is an EB, I thought all EB's had these controls?, could this be an indication of an airbag deployment / replacement?
I would also like radio controls in the steering, I do have radio controls in the rear, so if I get a steering wheel from another X or Navigator it would work with the radio?!

Well, not as simple as changing the steering wheel. You also need to change parts of the steering column. There is a slipring/contact for illuminating the controls and transfer them to the radio. You would need the dedicated harness AND a factory radio that has the feature. The rear controls are hardwired in and plug straight into the radio as a second plug. The steering wheel controls convey as a single wire (for my '04 X, this is PIN 14(LB/R) on second radio connector)
If no factory unit, there are interfaces available (PAC Electronics) that will reprogram the steering wheel input into headunit specific signals.
It is probably a lot of effort and unknowns to install this feature as a "factory upgrade". All depends whether the steering wheel slipring is present on all models or not, which I don't know.
Previouys owner had the sun/moonroof done as well as rear DVD player and headrest monitors/game console/wireless headphones. He told me it was over $5,000 for the above (in August of '04) and done by Custom Autotrim Design in St. Louis http://www.autotrimdesign.net/content.jsp?pageCode=ADMO
Don't know the cost of the sunroof alone. The brand is Webastia. well done and they have regional installers. They are the largest aftermarket sunroof producer. Here's link: http://www.webasto.us/am/en/am_auto_sunroofs.html

Man you got a good deal how much did you pay for the truck if you don't mind me asking?

That wasn't cheap though...2004 limited 4wd psd, 30,000 miles @ 34 Grant in april of this year...(Origonal window sticker was something like 52G) but it was what I wanted. Everything "cheaper" either had problems or didn't have the features I was looking for. Wanted a limited, 4wd, psd, low miles and no towing, sunroof, DVD, 4 captain chairs, and headrest monitors. I could have saved a little here and there but would have ended up paying the same or more if I had to have this all installed locally...You know, to each its own.
Seems like 4wd psd Xs are acquiring a cult like following and the prices are reflecting it. After owning many SUVs I must say, I'm bonding with this one :-)
i got this wheel from ebay brand new for $45. still had the plastic around it. its just to bad that my X doesnt have the auto climate control. and, i have an aftermarket radio. you wil ALSO have to rewire the cruise control. because the harness is different.

correct, the only thing that works is the cruise control. and thats because i had to find out what wires were what and cross them into the new wheel harness.
