I love the 79 Ford trucks and Broncos but I cant find any good ones around where I live. I have a 2wheel drive 79 ford but now I want a 4wheel drive. I live in western kentucky. Down here old ford trucks are goin for around about 2,000 to 3,000 and the beds are practically rusted completly off. I found a Bronco that has rusted out floor pans, door jams, and rear wheel wells but it has a new rebuilt 351M from Adavance Auto Parts. The guy wants 600 dollars for it, Would it be worth that even though the body is pretty much rusted away?
No, I got my bronco for $500.00, and it had an Edelbrock intake, carb, and true dual exhaust with no rust at all. Just be patient. Check out ebay and Craigslist periodically for a deal to pop up.
You have the whole southern United States to call your shopping basket.
Buy the one close for $300 for the running gear all 79 Broncos came with 9inch rearends and if you get one with the NP205 transfercase they're worth money too.
Then Buy one from Texas or California for the body.
There were only about 160,000 units total of the 1978 and 1979 Broncos so save everyone you can.
In Canada where I live they are a scarce as hens teeth(I have two).
Top off with headers and full dual exhaust roaring life does not get any better.
Ok, are you looking to use your 79 2wd as a body donor?
Offer the guy less, I wouldn't be affraid to pay $500-600 for it, if it's in good shape(engine is working, 4wd, etc).
99% chance it has a 205 t case.
You could pull the body off, throw your cab on there and either do a flat bed, or cut your bed to fit on the frame of the bronco, and you have a 4wd with a good cab.
