need help with rear shocks
does anyone know what size bolt is used to hold the top part of the rear shocks on a 99 xlt 4x4 with out lls i took mine out and the threads are gone so i need to replace them auto part stores have no idea what size they ars i know its a 18mm what is the thread per inch and bolt strength or what else i can use.

Take the nut-clip out, it's just clipped on the shock mount. Then take that and the stripped bolt to the hardware store and start going through the bolt bins until you find one that fits the nut. Then just make sure you get the right length based on the stripped out bolt.
I seriously doubt these are high strength bolts, but if it makes you feel better get a grade 5 or 8 bolt, they shouldn't be more than a buck or so a piece in the size you're looking at, so you might just want to splurge.

That's what I did when I changed mine. Actually I just pounded the nut out of the clip, cause I couldn't get it to line up with the clip on. Anyway, if you're going to do it that way, it helps to have a friend on the outside of the truck that can come in through the wheel-well and put the nut on the bolt.
