Brake line leak - thread/fitting type/size?

My 96 Shorty 3.0 just pissed itself. Got a sudden leak from the brake fitting that goes towards the rear end. Leaking onto the ground under the drivers floor from the junction shortly after it leaves the lowermost equalizer. Question is, what size/type of brake fittings do I need? A co-worker tells me the threads are metric on some and standard on others. Trying to prepare for a parking lot repair. Does this thing have ABS?

Does anyone have these specifications or advice?

Thanks!

I had a similar problem with my 90 Ranger with that fitting being a metric size and thread. A standard 3/16" replacement brake line will fit in the hole of the fitting and will seal like normal in the block it screws into. But of course you have to cut one end of the replacement line to get the fitting on it. Just make a double flare on the other end once the fitting is on the line and you can use a standard connector to attach more lengths of line to replace the rusted old ones. Even if it's not metric some of the fitting sizes are odd and not likely to be found at the local parts store. But you can do the same thing with it. The fittings usually don't go bad, it's the lines. You probably do have ABS and you could check the owners manual to be sure. Not sure if they still only had rear abs in 96 or not though.

Try to find stainless replacement lines with the proper fittings. They are less likely to corrode and leak. The factory does a pretty good job of isolating the lines from hazards, but sometimes things come up from the road and bash things, and push together parts that should not be touching, accelerating corrosion.
